First day going well…

It has been a great day- all the teams had an excellent start to their Walk through the Bible series for children.  They also thoroughly enjoyed all the comments on the blog! They are now out in their afternoon ministry- one group is in La Canela, evangelizing with Simon’s family. Two groups are in Villa de Yaque- the water team is going over the purification process once again with the team out there and the other CSBC team is using the BB court to do evangelism with the young people.  The fourth team is in Palmar Arriba, prayer walkign the community. We all meet back up at 6:30pm for dinner, debriefing and worship.

One neat thing this year- there are three teenagers from La Canela- 2 sisters and a brother- who are staying with the team all week, learning how to do their quiet time, participating in the ministry. Please pray for them as they get this super dose of discipleship with the CSBC youth!

More later…

Hey everyone! It sounds like you’ve had a great day. I’m gonna repeat what Emily said - make sure you pray before everything you do! Forgetting to put God first before ministry doesn’t ever work out well…. we all know that. How is everyone liking the food? What I would give for some rice, mystery (yet delicious) meat, and plantains. Hmm and I hope that you’re loading up on the eyeball fruit. Has there been any wildlife in the dormitories? It’s always nice to have a frog or lizard friend to go to sleep next to. I’ve met some kind of interesting creature in Blacksburg twice - looks like some kind of spidery scorpion. Both times there was fear and movement involved. Hopefully you don’t encounter anything like that. Anyways I am still praying for you all! Keep up the good work for the Lord!

    Love, Sydni

    P.S. here’s a great reason to pray -
Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:10-12

    Hi Shannon,
We’ve been thinking about you all day…and missing you! We hope you are having a wonderful experience and continue to pray for you and the team. We’re excited to read the blogs to get updates on the ministry teams’ progress.

I meant to tell you yesterday that a car and house caught on fire at the river. We heard that the car caught fire first and the wind blew the fire on the house, which subsequently caught fire. You could see the smoke from way down the river. I don’t believe anyone was hurt, but the car and house were burned very badly. We could see people outside crying. Remember these folks in your prayers. (The house was almost straight across the river from the boat ramp.) I thought you would want to know.

Andrew went to the movies with mema today. Dad and I worked. Dad said to tell you “he loves and misses you” and so do we…sending more hugs and kisses:) Love, Mom, Dad, and Andrew

Hey Brittney B. - Callie sure misses you. She’s taken over your room (and yes, I have started cleaning it out) It will still be yellow when you get home. No change there! I can’t wait to see some pics of the team. It is so exciting that you have some new friends staying with you. What a blessing for all of you! As others have said - drink lots of that water and make sure the bug spray is applied daily! Love you girl! Love, Mom P.S. Tell Marsha we really appreciate her updates - it really connects us to you!

Hey again Emi! Me and Dad are officially all alone now, Mom got off to camp at about 1:00 this afternoon. We got a call from her at about 8:00pm so she has made it there safely and is all settled in. She says to tell you hello and that she misses you! I hope you had better weather than we did today, it rained all day long, Josh and Jack’s soccer camp got moved inside because the field’s were too wet. The new REC guy started today (I can’t remember his name), he said they are all moved into their new house but not yet unpacked. I saw Rachel today too when she was dropping Tanner off at church for camp, she wants you to come back very badly so she can text you with her new phone, haha! Daddy says hello too and we’ll check on you again tomorrow! Have a good night and day! We miss you! Love, Sissy

Hi Jimmy, JT & everyone! Sounds like everything is going great. I’m praying for everyone as God continues to work through you. Since I saw Merlin’s post, I’m working with Sandy to teach her to blog. I’m thinking I need a bigger keyboard for her paws - seems Merlin has the “small paw” advantage. Oh well, I love you all!

Hello My Katie, Carrie continues to feel better, but is still on pain meds. Sarah H. took out tonight and we met up with them at Chik-filet. We went there after Audrey’s game with the Willards. Amy is staying with us tonight. Yes, you and Logan missed a great game. We beat the Hokies (Amy’s team). At half time it the score was Blue Devils 17 - Hokies 13. Final score BD 41 Hokies 18. Audrey scored 10 points (most in the second half) and get this NO Fouls and several rebounds and jumpballs. Tar Heels beat the Rams. We miss you so much, but we know you are where you need to be right now. Keep up the good work. We’re praying for you. No tea tonight…just a sherbert float. Take care and remember we all LOVE YOU… Mumma, Daddy, Carrie, Audrey, Mosby and ClaraBell
